the Grameen Bank is an institution created in Bangladesh to make loans
without collateral to poor women in that country. Despite the fact that
they are giving
credit to the poorest among the poorest of a poor country, the on-time
loan
repayments exceed 98%.
- MSF: MSF is an
independent
humanitarian medical aid agency committed to two objectives: providing
medical
aid wherever it is needed, regardless of race, religion, politics or
sex
and raising awareness of the plight of the people we help.
- Intermon (in Spanish):
this
institution was created in 1956 to fight poverty in poor countries by
providing
them with the means to generate development by themselves.
- Amnesty
International: AI is a worldwide campaigning movement that works to
promote all the human rights enshrined in the Universal
Declaration of Human Rights and other international standards. In
particular, AI campaigns to free all prisoners of conscience; ensure
fair and prompt trials
for political prisoners; abolish the death penalty, torture and other
cruel
treatment of prisoners; end political killings and "disappearances";
and
oppose human rights abuses by opposition groups.
